Hiddleston and Atwell in Much Ado About Nothing, Winter Garden Theatre

Jamie Lloyd's Shakespeare transfer begins previews October 31, opens November 19 and closes January 10 on Broadway.

Shakespeare's most sparkling comedy arrives on Broadway with a pair of stars who have already won acclaim for it in London. Tom Hiddleston plays Benedick and Hayley Atwell plays Beatrice in Jamie Lloyd's production of Much Ado About Nothing at the Winter Garden Theatre.

From London to Broadway

The production played at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London's West End in 2025. According to BroadwayWorld, it was nominated for four Standard Theatre Awards and four Critics' Circle Awards, including best director for Lloyd and best Shakespearean performance for both Hiddleston and Atwell.

Company and design

The Broadway cast also includes Forbes Masson as Leonato, Gerald Kyd as Don Pedro, Mara Huf as Hero, James Phoon as Claudio and Tim Steed as Don John. Soutra Gilmour designs the sets and costumes, Jon Clark the lighting, and Ben and Max Ringham the sound and composition, with choreography by Fabian Aloise.

The play itself is a sparring match: two witty people who swear off love are gently maneuvered by their friends into a change of heart, while a young couple's engagement faces a rougher road. It has remained a repertory favorite for more than four centuries because its verbal fencing is so reliably delightful.

Dates and tickets

Preview performances begin Saturday, October 31, with the official opening on Thursday, November 19. The run is strictly limited to ten weeks and ends Sunday, January 10, 2027. A runtime was not stated in the announcement. Tickets are sold through Telecharge, online or at 212-239-6200, and the production's website is muchadobroadway.com.

A Broadway date with Shakespeare, a limited run and two celebrated leads: this is the Broadway offering this season for those who prefer their evening with some literary heft.
